Cancellation Policy
This policy explains when an Essential Meds order can be cancelled, when it is too late, and what happens to a payment that has already been recorded. It also covers the smaller changes people usually want — a corrected address, a different pack size — which are often possible even when a full cancellation is not.

What decides whether cancellation is possible
It is not how long ago you ordered — it is how far the order has physically travelled. An order moves through four stages, and each one closes off a little more.
| Stage | What it means | Can it be cancelled? |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Placed, payment not yet recorded | The order exists but nothing has been paid or prepared | Yes — simply tell us, and nothing has been charged |
| 2. Payment verified, not yet packed | We have recorded your offline payment and the order is queued for preparation | Usually yes, if you reach us before packing starts |
| 3. Packed or handed to the delivery provider | The parcel is made up, or already with the carrier | No — the return and refund policy applies instead |
| 4. Delivered | The parcel has arrived | No — the return and refund policy applies instead |
Because preparation begins as soon as payment is verified, the window at stage 2 can be short. Speed matters more than anything else here.
Requesting a cancellation
Email care@essentialmedicine.store with your order number and the word "cancel" in the subject line, as soon as you can. If the live chat is open, use it as well — but send the email either way, so there is a written record with a timestamp.
We will confirm in writing whether the cancellation was in time. Until you have that confirmation, please treat the order as still live: an unanswered request is not a cancellation, and we would rather you chase us than assume.
Changing an order instead of cancelling it
Many cancellation requests are really change requests, and a change is often possible at stages 1 and 2:
- Delivery address. Tell us immediately. Correcting an address before dispatch costs nothing; correcting it afterwards usually is not possible, and a wrong address is the most common reason an order never arrives.
- Pack size or strength. We can usually swap an item before packing. Any price difference is settled before the order moves on.
- Adding or removing an item. Possible before packing; after that a second order is generally simpler than amending the first.
- Contact details. Update these at any time — they are how you receive tracking and delivery notices.
Ask for the change you actually want. If it turns out not to be possible, we will tell you and cancellation is still on the table.
When we may cancel an order
We may cancel an order ourselves when:
- a product is unavailable, or cannot be supplied in the pack size or strength ordered;
- the destination is not supported, or delivery to that address is not available;
- customer or delivery information is incomplete, unclear, or cannot be verified;
- the offline payment cannot be independently verified, or does not match the order;
- a required prescription is missing, unreadable, or does not match the order;
- a listing carried an obvious error, such as a clearly wrong price; or
- fulfilling the order would breach a requirement that applies to us or to the destination.
We contact you using the details supplied with the order before cancelling, wherever there is something you could do about it — supply a missing detail, confirm a corrected price, choose a different pack. A cancellation from our side is a last step, not a first one.
Orders that stall for want of payment
An order with no verified payment cannot be prepared, so an order that stays unpaid does not sit in the queue indefinitely. We will follow up at least once using the contact details on the order. If we still cannot verify a payment, the order is cancelled and released — nothing has been charged, and you are free to place it again.
If you have paid and we have not spotted it, tell us. Reference details from the payment help us match it quickly.
Payment and refunds after cancellation
Placing an order does not collect an online card payment. So if an unpaid order is cancelled, there is nothing to refund — no online charge has been taken and none will be.
If offline payment had already been verified and recorded, an approved refund is arranged through an available method agreed for the order. Timing depends on the offline payment channel and on the details needed to complete the refund; we will tell you what we need and confirm when the refund has been sent from our side. Where the order had not shipped, the shipping charge is refunded together with the items.
A refund is issued in the currency the order was paid in. Any fee or exchange rate applied by a bank or payment channel on the way back to you is outside our control.
If cancellation came too late
If the order was already packed or dispatched, this policy stops and the return and refund policy takes over. That page sets out what happens when an order arrives damaged, incorrect, late, or not at all, and the narrow set of cases where an unopened item can be returned. Please read it before refusing a delivery or posting anything back — an uninvited return can be difficult to identify and refund.
