How It Works
Mebendazole works by selectively binding to beta-tubulin in parasitic worm cells, inhibiting the polymerisation of tubulin into microtubules. This disrupts the worm's ability to: - Absorb glucose, depleting its energy reserves - Form the cytoskeletal structures needed for cell division and survival - Reproduce and spread within the host Because mammalian tubulin binds Mebendazole with much lower affinity than parasite tubulin, the drug acts selectively against the parasite with minimal effect on host cells at therapeutic doses. The worms are immobilised and die, then expelled naturally from the body.
