Overview

Wegovy® is a prescription medication containing semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It is approved for chronic weight management in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older with obesity or overweight conditions, especially when accompanied by weight-related comorbidities. Additionally, Wegovy® is indicated to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) such as heart attack, stroke, or cardiovascular death in adults with established cardiovascular disease and either obesity or overweight.

How to Use

Dosage Information
  • To minimize gastrointestinal side effects, Wegovy® dosing begins at a lower dose and gradually increases:

Safety Information
  • Contraindications: Do not use Wegovy® if you have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2. Verywell Health
  • Cautions: Use with caution if you have a history of pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, or kidney problems.
  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Wegovy® is not recommended during pregnancy. If you plan to become pregnant, discontinue use at least 2 months prior. Consult your healthcare provider regarding breastfeeding.
  • Monitoring: Regularly monitor for signs of pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, and changes in kidney function.
