Overview
Ropinirole is a dopamine agonist that helps manage the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and restless legs syndrome (RLS). It works by stimulating dopamine receptors in the brain, which are responsible for regulating movement and controlling discomfort. For Parkinson’s disease, Ropinirole helps reduce motor symptoms like tremors, rigidity, and bradykinesia (slowness of movement). In the case of restless legs syndrome, it relieves the uncomfortable urge to move the legs, especially during periods of inactivity such as sleep. The 4 mg dose is often part of the maintenance therapy to maintain symptom control.
