Xarelto 10 mg Tablets contain rivaroxaban, an oral anticoagulant (blood thinner) that helps reduce the risk of blood clots and prevents stroke in people with certain conditions. It is commonly prescribed to prevent and treat conditions such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), and to reduce the risk of stroke in people with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AFib). Xarelto works by inhibiting a key protein involved in the blood clotting process, which helps in preventing the formation of harmful blood clots.

Dosage Information
  • For prevention of stroke and blood clots in non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AFib):
  • 10 mg once daily, taken with food
  • For the prevention of DVT and PE after surgery (e.g., hip or knee replacement):
  • 10 mg once daily, taken with food for a specified duration, as directed by the doctor
  • For treatment of existing DVT or PE:
  • Initial dose typically starts higher and is gradually reduced to 10 mg once daily after a certain period based on the physician's advice
Safety Information
  • Do not take if you have an active bleeding disorder (e.g., internal bleeding, brain bleeding, gastrointestinal bleeding)
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Xarelto should be avoided during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester, and in women who are breastfeeding. Always consult your doctor for advice if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Kidney or liver problems: Use with caution in patients with kidney or liver diseases, as it may affect how the drug works or increase side effects
  • Discontinue 24 hours before surgery: If undergoing surgery or a procedure that carries a bleeding risk, consult your doctor about stopping Xarelto in advance
  • Avoid alcohol: Excessive drinking may increase the risk of bleeding
  • Bleeding risk: Contact your doctor if you experience unusual bleeding or bruising, or signs of bleeding like red or black stools or blood in the urine
