  • The 20 mg dose is typically used for the long-term treatment and prevention of these conditions, as well as for patients transitioning from initial high-dose therapy.

  • For the treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE):
  • 20 mg once daily, after an initial treatment phase with higher doses
  • For the prevention of recurrent DVT and PE:
  • Typically 20 mg once daily for long-term treatment, as prescribed by your healthcare provider
Safety Information
  • Do not take if you have an active bleeding disorder, such as internal bleeding, brain hemorrhage, or gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Xarelto should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Please consult your doctor for alternative options
  • Liver or kidney problems: Use caution if you have liver or kidney disease as these conditions may increase the risk of bleeding
  • Discontinue before surgery: If you are undergoing surgery, especially procedures that may increase bleeding risk, talk to your doctor about stopping Xarelto in advance
  • Alcohol: Limit alcohol consumption as it can increase the risk of bleeding
  • Bleeding risk: Be vigilant for signs of unusual bleeding (e.g., red or black stools, excessive bruising, or blood in the urine) and seek medical attention immediately if any occur
